October 23, 2026

Seven-time Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer has established Sob Rock Records through a new partnership with Mercury Records, part of Universal Music Group.

The announcement coincides with Mayer’s release of “Tom and Jerry,” his first new solo single since his 2021 album “Sob Rock.”

The partnership marks a new chapter in Mayer’s recording career following his earlier association with Columbia Records.

While financial and ownership terms have not been publicly disclosed, the agreement represents another example of an established artist building a dedicated label identity with major-label support.
