Fashion is not only about what comes down the runway. It is also about who is given the opportunity to be seen.
On September 12, Jacy Rodriguez brought fashion, music and creative opportunity together through A Designer’s Dream during New York Fashion Week, creating a platform where designers, models, performers and other creatives could showcase their work before a live New York audience.
Rather than focusing solely on established names, the presentation created space for emerging designers and creative talent to put their work in front of new audiences, reinforcing an important part of the event’s mission: visibility, opportunity and access.
Among the featured fashion participants was Hip Hop Closet, a business with a 26-year history connected to fashion and hip-hop culture. Its participation brought an established legacy to a showcase that also made room for the next generation of designers and creatives.

Throughout the evening, emerging designers presented distinctive pieces and collections across the runway, demonstrating the range of creative voices developing within today’s independent fashion community.

The platform extended beyond fashion.
Music became part of the evening when 15-year-old vocalist Angelina Thompson delivered a featured musical performance, bringing another emerging creative voice into an event centered on talent, artistry and opportunity.
Set against the New York skyline, the combination of runway fashion and live music reflected the increasingly interconnected worlds of fashion, music and entertainment.

For Urban Global Entertainment & Media, the significance of the evening extended beyond individual runway looks or a single performance. The event demonstrated the impact established creatives can have when they use their platforms to create opportunities for other talent.
By bringing together a fashion business with more than two decades of history, emerging designers, models, creatives and a young musical performer, A Designer’s Dream created an environment where different generations and areas of entertainment could share the same platform.
The September 12 presentation ultimately became more than a fashion show. It was a showcase of fashion history, emerging creative voices, live music and the importance of creating spaces where talent has an opportunity to be seen.
Urban Global Entertainment & Media was on site documenting the runway, atmosphere and musical showcase as part of its continuing original coverage of fashion, music, culture and emerging talent.
