Charles D. King’s MACRO is expanding into direct-to-consumer streaming through its acquisition of ALLBLK.

MACRO is moving deeper into ownership of the audience relationship with its acquisition of ALLBLK, adding a direct-to-consumer streaming platform to the company’s growing entertainment footprint.
The company founded by Charles D. King acquired ALLBLK from AMC Global Media, marking a new chapter for the platform and a strategic expansion for MACRO beyond film, television, management, brand work and studio production.
ALLBLK has built its identity around programming for Black audiences, with a library spanning original series, independent film, classic cinema and stage-based storytelling. Under MACRO, the service is expected to continue operating as its own platform while receiving new investment in original programming and audience growth.
Who Is Charles D. King?
For readers less familiar with the name behind the deal, Charles D. King has spent decades working across Hollywood’s business and creative sides.
Before founding MACRO in 2015, King was a partner and senior agent at William Morris Endeavor, becoming the first Black partner at a major Hollywood talent agency.
He later moved from representing talent to building his own multi-platform entertainment company.
As founder and CEO of MACRO, King oversees a business operating across film and television development and production, talent representation, brand marketing and other areas of the entertainment industry.
What Is MACRO?
Founded in 2015, MACRO is a Los Angeles-based integrated media company built around film, television, digital entertainment and the representation and development of underrepresented creative voices.
Its operations include film and television development, production and financing, talent representation through M88 and brand and creative marketing through Brand MACRO.
MACRO has been involved with acclaimed projects including “Fences,” “Mudbound,” “Sorry to Bother You” and “Judas and the Black Messiah.”
Its film projects have collectively received multiple Academy Award nominations and wins.
Why the ALLBLK Deal Matters
The ALLBLK acquisition represents another step in MACRO’s evolution.
Rather than operating only on the production side of entertainment, the acquisition gives MACRO a direct-to-consumer streaming platform and a more direct relationship with audiences.
ALLBLK is a streaming service focused on programming for Black audiences. Under MACRO’s ownership, the company has indicated plans to invest in additional original programming, audience development and greater integration between the streaming platform and MACRO’s existing studio operations.
That makes the acquisition more than another Hollywood business deal. It represents a move by a Black-founded media company from creating and financing entertainment into owning a platform through which entertainment can be delivered directly to consumers.
A Bigger Distribution Play
For MACRO, the acquisition creates a more direct lane between content development and viewers. Instead of only producing projects for other networks and streamers, the company now has a dedicated destination where new programming can be built around a clearly defined audience.
The move lands during a period of continued consolidation across entertainment, when ownership of both content and distribution has become increasingly important for companies trying to maintain creative control and long-term audience value.
With ALLBLK, MACRO adds another piece to a broader business model centered on culture, storytelling and underrepresented voices — this time with a streaming platform positioned for its next phase.
